Assemblyman-elect Mark Walczyk (R,C,I,Ref-Watertown) is inviting the public and community leaders to his swearing-in ceremony as he officially becomes the next representative of the 116th Assembly District. Walczyk unseated longtime Assemblywoman Addie Jenne on Nov. 6 by a final tally of 20,998 to 18,415. The swearing in of Walczyk marks the first time that a Republican has held this Assembly seat; in its current configuration which includes parts of St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties.

“Over the last several months, I’ve had the privilege of talking with business owners, educators and farmers, I’ve sat in kitchens and living rooms across the North Country. After hearing about what they feel we need to do better as a State, I’m ready to hit the ground running,” said Walczyk. “Since Nov. 6, the day the voters living in the ‘Front Yard of America’ put their confidence in me, I’ve continued meeting with residents and community stakeholders from across Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties as I prepare to represent this beautiful region in the State Assembly.”

“I look forward to working day and night, being a tireless advocate of the region.  I will not let the residents of the 116th Assembly District down.  You have my word that I will work to cut through red tape and government bureaucracy to make our region a great place to live, work and raise a family for generations to come.”
