“GUARDIAN OF SMALL BUSINESS”
State Assemblyman Mark Walczyk announced Thursday that he has been selected as a National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) 2020 “Guardian of Small Business” in New York State.
The “Guardian of Small Business” award is given to those who have a strong record of standing up for and supporting policy that strengthens small businesses. This is the highest honor NFIB bestows upon state lawmakers. Walczyk has made it a priority to fight for a better business climate across the state, especially in St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties.
“NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award recognizes state lawmakers who have demonstrated an exceptional record of support for pro-small business policies this past legislative session,” said Greg Biryla, NFIB’s New York State Director. “Assemblyman Mark Walczyk has been a leading voice for tax relief and fiscal responsibility in Albany. Small, independent businesses in the 116th Assembly District and across the state need strong committed advocates like Assemblyman Walczyk more than ever as we all work together to confront the unprecedented and unpredictable economic challenges brought by COVID-19.”
“Being named a ‘Guardian of Small Business’ by the NFIB is an incredible honor because it symbolizes a kept promise I made to voters, that jobs in the Front Yard of America was at the top of my priority list and since then, I've been fighting for independent businesses,” said Assemblyman Mark Walczyk. “If we're going to recover from this shutdown and reclaim the title of the 'Empire State,' we'll have to start by listening to the job producers that serve as the backbone of the economy. Now, the voters know when they cast their ballot for me, they'll get a representative who will fight for businesses in Northern New York."
For more than 75 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals. NFIB is nonprofit, nonpartisan, and member-driven. Since its founding in 1943, NFIB has been exclusively dedicated to small and independent businesses, and remains so today.
